Dec 31, 2010 · No you are supposed to heat them up and slide them on the crank. There is a roll pin in the crank that is supposed to keep the timing gear from turning. The oil pump drive gear is just supposed to be heated and installed. I got them off, not sure if I trust them though. I used a torch and heated em up and they slid right off. This video is all about a repair our shop did on a DT466E International diesel engine. It would not start and we finally found the engine oil pump to be weak along with a scored oil pressure regulator. The engine oil pump feeds the 'high pressure oil pump' that runs the HEUI system.
